The Peacock Soft Hackle is a very basic pattern but is also very effective. This can be fished as a searching pattern and at the end of your drift allow it to swing. Trout love to hit these soft hackles on the swing, and the trick is not to set the hook to hard and take the fly away from the fish. When you feel the fish hit the soft hackle on the swing, lower your rod tip a few inches then raise it a few inches, the hook is set! Pretty simple!
