Baetis Cripple

Cripples are important to the trout and to the fisherman. The mayfly during emergence can become hung up within itself and become what we call a cripple. The mayfly in this vulnerable state is easy prey for feeding trout. This is important for the fisherman to be aware of because trout, like most creatures,  want to expend as little energy as necessary. The cripple is in no way a threat to fly off. Fish on!
